asynchronous gameplay for tabletop rpgs

Keep your Tabletop RPG campaigns going strong, even when you’re not at the table, by playing in-between sessions with the Campfire tool set

  • Engaging ‘downtime’ action trees

  • In-depth character development

  • Ongoing interaction between characters

The story doesn’t have to stop

Use Campfire to keep your game active and accessible at all times through asynchronous play.

Game masters can continue to run the game through ‘downtime’ action trees, players can initiate and continue conversations with other PCs and NPCs, and the story can continue to grow.

Now you can keep enjoying and progressing in your game even when you’re away from the table.

Keep the game alive

As lifetime players with decades of experience, we noticed that nearly all of our campaigns would begin to fizzle out after time, especially after taking long breaks.

We call this phenomenon campaign decay, which eventually leads to campaign collapse — then the adventure stops, the story ends, and the players move on.

The solution we found to the problem of campaign decay is keeping the Game Master and players alike engaged asynchronously — outside of game time and at their own leisure in real world time — through ‘downtime’ play.

We created Campfire to solve campaign decay, and to extend our ability to continue playing the games we love together.

Stop campaign decay before it starts

Downtime play happens when the player characters take a break in-between active adventuring, and can encompass a wide array of activities, each one furthering character and story development:

  • Planning current or future quests

  • Deepening bonds between players

  • Crafting items, potions, or scrolls

  • Learning new skills or practicing old ones

  • Meeting new NPCs

  • Buying and selling loot

Campfire makes managing these activities easy, fun and frictionless for both Game Masters and players alike.
